Feta Tomato Päckchen from the Grill

These Mediterranean feta and tomato parcels are an easy vegetarian grill dish. Preparation takes about 15 minutes, followed by approximately 10 minutes of cooking.

Servings: 2
Total time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 blocks feta, 200 g each
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 10 black olives, drained and quartered
  • 2 tablespoons fresh oregano leaves, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • Black pepper and a small amount of salt

Instructions

  1. Unwrap the feta and pat it dry.
  2. Wash and slice the tomatoes and spring onions.
  3. Drain and quarter the olives, then chop the oregano leaves.
  4. Prepare two approximately 30 × 30 cm sheets of heavy-duty foil or two suitable grill parcels. Place one block of feta in the center of each.
  5. Drizzle each block with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Season with pepper and only a little salt, as feta is already salty.
  6. Divide the tomatoes, spring onions, olives and oregano evenly between the two portions.
  7. Fold each parcel securely, leaving a little space around the ingredients. Use a second outer layer if necessary to prevent leaks.
  8. Cook on a grill heated to about 200°C for approximately 10 minutes. Alternatively, bake in a convection oven at 200°C for the same length of time.
  9. Open the hot parcels carefully, allowing steam to escape away from your face, and serve immediately.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the feta parcels with baked potatoes, garlic bread, fresh baguette or ciabatta, a Mediterranean bread salad, or a crisp green salad.

Variations

The filling can be adjusted to taste. Omit the olives if preferred, or replace the oregano with fresh dill.
